1. Designing forms

Use the helper grid to design a form

The helper grid shows where in the editing area you can add layouts and items and lets you add them directly in the editing area, instead of dragging them from the left pane.

To use the helper grid:

  1. In the form designer, in the upper right-hand corner, turn the Helper Grid switch on. The editing area now changes to grid view and shows buttons for adding items or layouts.

  2. If you are designing a form from scratch, click Choose layout to start defining your structure by adding your first layout. On the Start building your layout page, click the layout that you want to add to the form.

  3. Click Add layout or click an item under Add item to start designing.

    Note

When you click Add item above or below the item, you are placing the new item above or below it, but always inside the same layout.

When you have added a layout or an item, you can edit it as usual. You can turn the helper grid switch off to check how your design looks and then turn it back on to add more layouts and more items as needed.
