Publishing in XM Cloud

When content authors finish creating and designing a final version of website content in XM Cloud, they publish it to make it live and available. When you publish, you push content to Experience Edge, where it can be consumed by the front-end application created by your developers.

In XM Cloud, you can publish content items, pages, components, layouts, or page designs, or an entire website at the same time. You can publish content using Pages, Explorer, Components, Deploy, or the Content Editor. For many publishing tasks, there is more than one tool you can use, as shown in the following table.

Choose the tool that best suits your workflow: for example, if you're working in Explorer, you can publish from there, without having to switch to a different tool.

* When you publish a page from Pages, some related items included in that page are also automatically published: content items, layouts and templates built in the Content Editor, and SXA components.

However, partial and pages designs are not automatically published when publishing a page where they are used. They must be published from the Pages Templates mode, or from the Content Editor.
