Try out beta features

Beta features let you try out upcoming functionality in Sitecore Content Hub before it’s officially released. They give you early access to improvements and new tools, so that you can explore what’s coming, provide feedback, and prepare your workflows in advance. When you submit feedback, either feature-specific or general feedback, it is sent to the product team, contributing to future improvements and development.

All beta features are grouped in a single slide-out panel, accessible by clicking Beta feature in the navigation menu. If the flask icon has a purple dot on it, then new beta features have been published in the latest Content Hub release. The dot disappears when you open the slide-out panel.

There are two types of beta features:

  • New features are functionalities that can be enabled without any other input from you.

  • Experimental updates are new tools or migrated pages that might affect your customization and therefore require you to take action. For example, if we migrate a Knockout page to React, you’ll need to migrate any customizations to keep the page working as expected.

Enable beta features

The slide-out panel lets you enable or disable any combination of features and give feedback on each of those features when they are enabled.

Superusers can enable a beta feature for all users by turning on the Allow all users to enable this feature switch. If the switch is off, then only superusers can try out the beta features. Experimental updates are turned off by default and only become available for everyone when superusers explicitly turn this switch on.

Regular users can only enable or disable a beta feature for themselves.
