Get started with product content
Content comes from many sources across an organization, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), master data management (MDM), or Excel spreadsheets. Valuable data is often spread across various business teams, such as the product, shipping, marketing, and sales teams. Using Content Hub lets you centralize product information so team members can access it, edit it, update it in real-time, and publish it to the relevant sales channels.
Products are at the center of the product content schema, which consists of parent and child relations between the products and other Content Hub entities, including assets and content.
You can automate the product management process using state flows if the state flow feature is added to your license. When you upload assets for a product, product family, or catalog, they follow the standard asset workflow whereby they are stored in the Standard repository and made available in Content Hub. An uploaded asset is available first on the Create page. When it is submitted for approval, it moves to the Review page. The Review page acts as a final checkpoint before making the assets available on the Assets page, where they can be searched.
Asset metadata lets you see related product metadata from within Content Hub.
You can extend the product creation state flow for your specific requirements. For example, you can extend it to include data enrichment capabilities, whereby data is attached as the product moves through the state flow.
To enable synchronization of product updates between Content Hub and the Commerce Engine, you configure the Sitecore Content Hub to Sitecore Experience Commerce (XC) connector. Configuration is required in both Content Hub and in Sitecore XC.
