Assets operations

The following table describes the operations that you can perform on assets. These operations are only available on pages related to assets.

Note

Available operations and their location might vary based on your permissions and the way the configuration is defined.

You can access additional operations by clicking Actions in the upper-right corner of the application window.

Important

Not all operations are available on all pages. The operations that are available depend on the page and the entity definition associated with it. Operations are only available for standard final life cycle statuses (FinalLifeCycleStatus) of an asset, such as Approved, Archived, Created, Deleted, Approved, and UnderReview). They do not work with custom final life cycle statuses.

	Add to collection	Add assets to a collection.
	Add to entity	Create a relation between the entity and an entity definition.
	Add to saved selection	Add the asset to a saved selection.
	Analytics	Analyze the public links of an asset.
	Annotate	Annotate assets.
	Approve	Approve assets submitted for approval.
	Archive	Archive assets.
	Compare to master	Compare the selected file with the master file when an asset has multiple files.
	Copy from entity	Copy from the entity. This operation must be linked to a nested Search component.
	Copy to clipboard	Copy the selected assets to the clipboard.
	Create draft	Create a draft asset from the current asset.
	Delete	Delete assets permanently.
	Download / Request download	Download assets or create a download order. If an asset is restricted, request download.
	Edit / Mass edit	Edit assets.
	Edit in table	Edit assets in a table view.
	Edit	Set the entire page to edit mode so you can edit page metadata all at once. Add this operation to the Entity operations component for the details page.
	Edit template	Edit an asset template to use when editing values for multiple assets.
	Find duplicate files	Show all duplicates in the system.
	Generate PDF	Enable PDF printing. Add this operation to the Entity operations component.
	History	Show the metadata history of a property or field.
	Link items	Link selected entities to one or more other entities.
	Move to trash	Send assets to the trash. This operation does not apply to draft assets.
	OneDrive check out	Check out assets to OneDrive.
	OneDrive download	Download assets from OneDrive.
	Paste from clipboard	Paste assets from the clipboard to a new location.
	Public links	Create and configure public links.
	Preview	Open the inline preview.
	Publish directly	Approve and publish the assets immediately.
	Publish to delivery platform	Publish entities to the delivery platform.
	Quick edit	Open the edit mode where you can make changes.
	Refresh renditions	Refresh asset renditions after an update.
	Reject	Reject assets submitted for approval.
	Remove from saved selection	Remove assets from a saved selection.
	Restore	Restore an asset from the My trash page.
	Set focal point	Set a focal point or specific location in an image that you consider important and to which you want to draw the viewer's attention.
	Share via email	Share assets using emails.
	Set as master	Replace the asset master file.
	Show selected only	Display only the selected assets.
	Submit for approval	Send created assets to review.
	Submit for approval (publish draft)	If the draft feature is enabled, send draft asset for review. If approved, the draft asset replaces the original asset and can be published.
	Tag with AI	Add image metadata using AI.
	Toggle switch	Add a toggle switch to a field.
	Unarchive	Restore archived entities.
	Unlink	Unlink an entity from another entity, for example, unlinking an asset from a usage right.
	Unpublish from delivery platform	Unpublish entity definitions or unpublish entity definition members from the delivery platform
	Upload	Upload files.
	Usage	Show the usage of the asset in Content Hub.
	Use direct link	Redirect to the asset thumbnail preview in a new browser tab.
	User access for template assets	Share asset templates with internal users.
	View detail page	Open the details page.
	View details	View the entity details page.
	View related entity	View related entities and navigate to a specific related entity with a single click
	View similar assets	Displays similar assets when using AI-assisted search.
