Display the budget as a pivot table

You can dispay the budget as a pivot table, which provides a multi-dimensional dynamic view of the budget. For an example of how to manipulate the pivot table display, see Pivot table example.

Pivot table areas

The pivot table consists of six areas, as shown in the following image:

Pivot table diagram

These areas are:

  • Area 1 - contains unused properties. Any property present here is not used as a dimension in the table. You can drag and drop the properties here if you want to remove them from the table dimensions.

  • Area 2 - contains the X-axis dimensions of the table. Any property present here is used as a horizontal dimension in the table (a top header). The order of the properties in this section defines the cascading behavior of the horizontal dimensions.

  • Area 3 - contains the Y-axis dimensions of the table. Any property present here is used as a vertical dimension in the table (a left-side header). The order of the properties in this section defines the cascading behavior of the vertical dimensions.

  • Area 4 contains the following two fields: Field 1 defines the aggregation operation, using Balance or Sum:

    • Balance - the sum of the selected property values, with the cost expressed as a negative and the budget as positive (based on the Item type field).

    • Sum - the sum of the selected property values, with all types expressed as a positive value. Field 2 defines the property used for the aggregation operation. The selected property must be a number for the aggregation operations to work. The out-of-the-box options are:

    • Amount

    • Confidence

    • Currency

    • Expense type

    • Sub type

    • Item type These two fields define the calculation of the values displayed in the table.

  • Area 5 - lets you select the pivot table view - Table or Column chart.

  • Area 6 - the main area of the table. All the calculated table data is displayed in this area.
