Create a page

Pages are used to build and organize interactive website content. After creating a page, you can add content by creating components in the available page zones, and then configuring the behavior and appearance of those components to deliver an informative, engaging, and intuitive user experience.

There are several methods available for creating pages:

  • Blank page - a blank page with no associated entity definition.

  • Detail page - a details page for a selected entity definition.

  • Mass edit page - a page containing mass edit tools for a selected entity definition.

  • From template - a page based on a template. An existing page can be set as a template by selecting the Is template check box on the page’s Info tab.

All pages are associated with a master layout. You can change the master layout after you've created the page by editing the page configuration and modifying the setting on the Info tab.

Note

The behavior of individual components can differ depending on the type of page you add them to.

You can organize your pages into a hierarchy by specifying whether each one has a parent page. Any page that is assigned a parent is known as a subpage. To reposition an existing page, click More options More Actions icon > Move page next to its name, and then click More options More Actions icon > Move selected pages inside next to the name of the desired parent page.

To create a page:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage cog icon.

  2. On the Manage page, click Pages.

  3. On the Pages page, in the left pane, do one of the following:

    • If you don’t want the new page to have a specific parent, click + Page. This assigns Home as the parent page, which puts the new page at the highest permitted level of the page hierarchy .

    • If you want the new page to be a subpage of an existing one, click More options More Actions icon > plus icon Add subpage.

  4. In the Page dialog box, in the Name field, enter a name for the new page. This name is a unique system identifier and is not used as the title. The name and the title can be different.

  5. In the Page type list, select the type of page you want to create:

    • If you select Detail page or the Mass edit page, use the Definition list to choose an entity definition to associate with the page.

    • If you select From template, use the Template list to choose a template to base the page on.

  6. To apply a master layout to the page, use the Master layout list to select it.

  7. Click Add. The page is added to the left pane. You can now do the following:

    • To modify the page, click it and change page settings as required.

    • To reposition the page, click and hold its drag and drop icon icon while dragging it to the desired location.

    • To delete the page, next to its name, click More actions More Actions icon > Delete page. You cannot delete a parent page if it has subpages.
