Create a simulation report to review changes
Importing a file generates a simulation report that shows what changes a package would make, without applying them. This helps you spot issues like missing dependencies, permission errors, or invalid data. When the report is ready, the Review changes button appears next to the import job.
The report contains:
-
A summary section that lists all errors and warnings. This includes missing items, insufficient permissions, and validation issues, such as invalid field values.
-
A package structure that shows the package content as a tree, with status indicators such as Modified for updated items or Skipped for restricted items, for example system-owned settings.
-
Inline messages that highlight item-level messages, such as a warning that a label will be overwritten.
-
Comparison views that let you compare current and imported data side by side, either as field values or raw JSON.
Because this process doesn't save items, some relation values might be marked as invalid.
