Upload a new version

Use Upload new version to add a new version of an asset file to Sitecore Content Hub. Available versions are displayed on the asset details page in the All files list. Each version can have its own list of available formats (known as renditions). By default, Content Hub includes several default renditions.

When you upload a file using the Import file method, Content Hub creates an upload job. You can follow the progress of the job on the Background processes page.

The upload size limit is 50 GB per file.

To upload a new version:

  1. On the menu bar, click Assets.

  2. On the Assets page, click the asset for which you want to upload a new version.

  3. On the asset details page, click Upload upload icon and then click Upload new version.

  4. In the dialog, do one of the following;

    • Drag and drop the file you want to upload into the dialog.

    • Click Browse, navigate to the location of the file, select it, and then click Open.

    The uploaded file is set as the master and identified with the Master Master icon icon.

  5. To set a specific asset version as master, in the All files pane, click Actions More actions icon and then click Set as master.

There are differences between Upload new version and Upload alternative thumbnail, which include:

  • Upload new version uploads a new file version of the asset, which is set as the master file version for the asset.

  • Upload alternative thumbnail uploads only a new thumbnail for the master file version of the asset.

For information about uploading large files, see Large file upload.
