View and edit a multi-stage project timeline

The project timeline summarizes the stages of a multi-stage project in a calendar layout so you can visualize stages, milestones, and dependencies as well as quickly view the status, duration, and start and end dates of the project. The progress bar at the top of the Timeline tab shows the progress of the project in terms of the stages complete. A stage can have multiple preceding stages and multiple succeeding stages. A predecessor is a stage that must be finished before the succeeding stage can begin. For example, a photoshoot must be completed before the resulting photos can be used in a print layout. You can use the timeline to add or edit dependencies.

To view and edit a multi-stage project timeline:

  1. On the menu bar, click Project > Projects.

  2. On the Projects page, click the multi-stage project you are interested in.

  3. On the project details page, click the Timeline tab. You can use this tab to add stages and milestones, if needed.

  4. To manipulate stages, milestones, and dependencies interactively, on the chart, move the slider to change the start and end dates (that is, the duration) of a stage or to move a milestone.

  5. Use the arrow connectors to add dependencies.

  6. If needed, click Actions More actions icon next to any stage and choose from the following:
