Create a transformation

Transformations let you create renditions dynamically, in different dimensions, without regenerating the public link.

Transformations behave as follows:

  • The system tries to apply a same-type conversion on a file type.

  • If the system cannot do such a conversion, it returns the original file.

Note

To apply a transformation to a public link, append t={TRANSFORMATION_NAME} to its URL. If the public link points to a file type whose quality isn't controlled by the q parameter (such as TIFF files), the transformed file might lose its quality information, potentially increasing its file size.

To create a transformation:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage cog icon.

  2. On the Manage page, click Transformations.

  3. On the Transformations page, click Transformation.

  4. In the Transformation dialog, fill out the following fields.

    Field

    Description

    Mandatory

    Name

    Name of the transformation.

    Yes

    Crop

    Type of crop.

    No

    Width (px)

The transformation is scaled to this width depending on the selected Crop option.

Only for Smart crop and Crop to center.

    Height (px)

The transformation is scaled to this height depending on the selected Crop option.

Only for Smart crop and Crop to center.

    Quality

Quality of the transformation. This has no effect on the appearance and size of lossless image file types such as PNG.

    No

  5. To create another transformation, select the Create another check box.

  6. Click Save. If you selected the Create another check box, the Transformation dialog displays where you can create another transformation. If you are not creating another item, the Transformations page opens.

    Note

When you create another item, some of the fields are prefilled with values you already defined.

Note

To edit a transformation, on the Transformations page, next to the transformation you want to edit, click Edit .
