Example - create an image variable

In this example, you create an image variable, associate it with a frame, and expose it to the publication editors.

To create an image variable:

  1. On the menu bar, click Publisher > Templates.

  2. On the Templates page, click edit icon on the template you want to modify.

  3. In the Sitecore Content Publisher editor, click the Variable Data tab.

  4. In the Variable List pane, click plus sign to add a variable. A variable called New Variable appears in the list.

  5. Optionally, to edit the new variable settings, click Edit edit icon next to the variable.

  6. On the top toolbar of the editor, click Create Frame > Image.

  7. On the IMAGE tab, in the Image Settings pane, in the Variable drop-down list, select your variable.

  8. On the VARIABLES tab, in the Variable Input pane, next to your variable, click dynamic frame tab resources variables images new.

  9. In the SELECT IMAGE dialog, click Assets and then double-click your desired asset to select it.

  10. On the FRAME tab, in the Frame Location pane, in the Tag field, enter a value, such as Packshot.

  11. Click Save.

  12. To display the image variable in the template for publication editors, go to the template detail page.

  13. On the top-right of the template detail page, click More actions more options icon > Revalidate template force recheck.

  14. In the Revalidate template? dialog, click Continue. After the validation process, the image variable shows as a dynamic frame.

Note

To display frames in a publication, they must have a tag. Re-validating a template deletes the previous mappings.
