Add a content member

Every content type is defined by one or more members arranged into a suitable structure. Within the Content section, members represent single pieces of the resulting content, such as the subject line or body text of an email. The appearance and behaviour of a content member is determined by the member type.

Note

To configure Content Hub, you must either be a superuser or have the necessary permissions granted to you through user group policies.

To add a content member:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage .

  2. On the Manage page, click Content types.

  3. On the Content types page, in the Content section, click the content type you want to modify.

  4. Click Add member.

  5. In the Add member dialog, select one of the following member types:

    Member typeDescription
    Single lineA single-line field for short text, such as titles or names.
    Multiple linesA multi-line field for text, such as descriptions.
    HTMLA rich text field with formatting, asset embedding, and collaboration features.
    ReferenceA field that contains items referenced in the content item.
  6. On the Details tab, fill out the following fields:

    FieldDescription
    NameName of the member, used to create the full member definition name. It can only contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, underscores, and dots, and it cannot be changed once created. Rich text member names cannot exceed 18 characters.
    LabelLabel of the member, used to introduce long, descriptive text.
    Help textText displayed to help users work with this member.
  7. On the Validation rules tab, do the following:

    • For Reference members, fill in the following fields:

      FieldDescription
      Allow only specified content typesThe types of content that can be referenced by this member. All types are allowed by default.
      Allow only a specified number of reference itemsA constraint on how many items of content can be referenced by this member field. Choose a constraint type and then define the constraints, such as a range, minimum, or maximum. There is no constraint applied by default.
    • For other member types, select any of the following check boxes as required:

      FieldDescription
      RequiredA constraint that makes the member mandatory. Content cannot be saved until the required field is completed.
      Include character limitA constraint on how many characters can be entered in the respective field. This limit is displayed below the field and updates as characters are entered. Content cannot transition to the approved state when the number of characters exceeds the limit.
    Note

    You can configure validation conditions for the content type that specifies when validation occurs.

  8. Click Save.
