Add a detail member

Detail members represent content metadata, and appear on the General tab of the content details page.

Note

To configure Content Hub, you must either be a superuser or have the necessary permissions granted to you through user group policies.

To add a detail member:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage .

  2. On the Manage page, click Content types.

  3. On the Content types page, in the Details section, click the content type you want to modify.

  4. In the Add member dialog, click one of the following member types:

    Member typeDescription
    BooleanHas two possible values (true or false).
    DatetimeContains Year-Month-Date-Time and can be shown in a readable format (for example, Apr 15, 2022).
    Datetime offsetA specific datetime with a custom offset. The first time this field is accessed for a particular item of content, it defaults to the current date and time with a +1 hour offset.
    DecimalA decimal number, such as 1.0, 3.5, or 5.2.
    IntegerA whole number, such as 1, 16, or 1024.
    LongA whole number, but can be much larger than an integer.
    Option listA list of selectable options. See step 5.
    TaxonomyA hierarchical arrangement of entities, such as a parent-child tree.
    Single lineA single-line field for short text, such as titles or names.
    Multiple linesA multi-line field for text, such as descriptions.
    HTMLA rich text field with formatting, asset embedding, and collaboration features.
  5. On the Details tab, fill out the following fields:

    • For Option list members:

      FieldDescription
      NameName of the member, used to create the full member definition name. It can only contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, underscores, and dots, and it cannot be changed once created. Rich text member names cannot exceed 18 characters.
      LabelLabel of the member, used to introduce long, descriptive text.
      Data sourceSource of the data.
      Help textText displayed to help users work with this member.
    • For other member types:

      FieldDescription
      NameName of the member, used to create the full member definition name. It can only contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, underscores, and dots, and it cannot be changed once created. Rich text member names cannot exceed 18 characters.
      LabelLabel of the member, used to introduce long, descriptive text.
      Help textText displayed to help users work with this member.
  6. On the Validation rules tab, select any of the following check boxes as applicable:

    FieldDescription
    RequiredA constraint that makes the member mandatory. Content cannot be saved until the required field is completed.
    Include character limitA constraint on how many characters can be entered in the respective field. This limit is displayed below the field and updates as characters are entered. Content cannot transition to the approved state when the number of characters exceeds the limit.
  7. Click Save.
