Set or remove a focal point

Note

To configure Sitecore Content Hub, you must either be a superuser or have the necessary permissions granted to you through user group policies.

A focal point is a specific location in an image that you consider important. It's meant to draw the viewer's attention or highlight a key feature.

In Content Hub, focal points are persistent, and they automatically adjust cropping around themselves to maintain visibility of essential product features, for example, in website banners of varying aspect ratios. You can set a single focal point per image, defined by X and Y coordinates. The focal point will automatically be applied to all new public links associated with the image. You must update the focal point for existing public links manually by clicking Update.

Note

You can also set a focal point when you create or edit a public link for an image asset.

Before you begin

To set a focal point:

  1. On the menu bar, click Assets.

  2. On the Assets page, click the image asset you want to set the focal point for.

  3. On the asset details page, click Set focal point. The Set focal point operation is only available for images.

  4. In the Set focal point dialog, click the image or drag the Plus icon cursor to the point where you want to put the focus.

  5. Click Save focal point. This focal point is applied to all new public links created for the image.

  6. To update existing public links with the newly set focal point, in the information message, click Update. Only public links using the Crop to a custom focal point setting are affected.
